The SCAVMA Points System
Revised Jan. 2005

The purpose of SCAVMA is to acquaint students with the functions of the AVMA, to encourage friendship between the various classes and faculty, to broaden the students’ perspective of the veterinary profession and other fields of interest, and to stimulate the development of professional attitudes.

To encourage participation in our SCAVMA chapter and other activities in accordance with the mission of SCAVMA, the membership established the “Points System.” Yearly point requirements vary according to class and fulfillment of the required point total by the end of the academic year is required to remain a member in good standing.

First, second, third, and fourth-year students are required to accumulate five, four, three, and one points, respectively. SCAVMA members must submit point requests to the membership chair in writing (forms available on website).
